The Embassy of the People’s Republic of China in Sierra Leone has donated a 50KW Baifa brand generator to the Ministry of Technical and Higher Education (MTHE), aimed at strengthening the Ministry’s operational capacity and ensuring a more reliable working environment.
The handover ceremony took place at the Ministry, attended by senior officials including the Minister of Technical and Higher Education, Dr. Haja Ramatulai Wurie; Deputy Minister, Sarjoh Aziz-Kamara; Permanent Secretary, Mohamed Sheick Kargbo; Professional Head, Dr. Josephus Brimah; Director of Higher Education, Emmanuel J. Momoh; Acting Director of Research, Planning and Development, Idrissa Sannoh; and the Estate Officer, Yusuf Sillah.
Presenting the generator on behalf of the Ministry’s technical team, the Student Secretary of MTHE, George A. Dambo, expressed appreciation to the Chinese Embassy for the timely donation. He described the Embassy as a close partner of the Ministry, highlighting the strong working relationship between both institutions. He formally handed over the generator to the Minister, noting that it would be used exclusively for the official operations of MTHE.
In her statement, Dr. Haja Ramatulai Wurie conveyed profound gratitude to the People’s Republic of China for its continued support to Sierra Leone, particularly in the area of human capital development. She noted that China’s partnership with Sierra Leone goes beyond infrastructural support, extending to capacity building, training opportunities, and professional development for Sierra Leoneans.
The Minister emphasized that the donation of the 50KW generator would significantly improve the Ministry’s working environment by ensuring uninterrupted operations.
She described the relationship between Sierra Leone and China as a longstanding friendship spanning over 60 years, one that has consistently contributed to the country’s development agenda.
