Sarjoh Aziz Kamara
Sarjoh Aziz-Kamara is a seasoned professional with more than twenty years of diverse experience spanning UN peacekeeping operations, the public sector, and international non-governmental organisations. He currently serves as the Deputy Minister in Sierra Leone’s Ministry of Technical and Higher Education, where he has made a significant impact on education transformation and socio-economic development.
As a strong advocate for gender equality and inclusivity, Sarjoh actively promotes pathways for women and girls in Science, Technology, Engineering, Agriculture, and Mathematics (STEAM). He also champions improved access to higher education for students with disabilities, underscoring his commitment to building an equitable and inclusive learning environment.
Sarjoh’s international experience covers Sierra Leone, South Sudan, Liberia, and the United Kingdom. Throughout his career, he has provided strategic leadership and policy guidance on education reform, contributed to peacebuilding and post-conflict recovery, and played a key role in supporting Liberia’s successful political transition. His work has also strengthened security sector reform, law enforcement professionalisation, and local governance capacity building, efforts that have helped reinforce community resilience in post-conflict Sierra Leone.
During his service with the UN Mission in Liberia and the UN Mission in Sudan, Sarjoh contributed significantly to national responses to the Ebola outbreak and the COVID-19 pandemic, demonstrating resilience, adaptability, and commitment to public health in times of crisis.
